We planned to fly to Bisbee today (Tuesday, June 20,) to take the mine tour. We never left Sierra Vista.
When we got to the airport, Dennis' tire was flat again. We agreed that pumping it up and hoping it wouldn't go flat again wasn't very smart. Chris Daley and I had been in contact, connecting via Facebook. He moved to Sierra Vista a few weeks ago and has an Aeroprakt A-32 which he hangars at Sierra Vista. He and Dennis know each other well, since he bought his Aeroprakt from Dennis and Dennis and he flew the plane back to his home airport.
He came out to the Sierra Vista airport and very, very generously spent the entire day taking us to 2 tire shops, Ace Hardware, and borrowing tools so Dennis could change the tire once it was fixed.
I spent most of the day tagging along and sitting on an upside-down 5 gallon bucket in the hangar: Chris' hangar is obviously new to him, and he hasn't really made it his own yet - it's still almost empty except for his plane.
It was such fun meeting him and seeing his orange A-32!
Then back to Pierre Louis and Julia's for a delicious dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. Now I'm off to bed and TOMORROW we're going to fly to Bisbee and take that mine tour!!!!
She has been running 100LL and with the cool air at altitude the possibility of vapor lock is impossible. Plus the Aeroprakt A22 isn't prone to vaper lock on the ground either, even though it is flown in some very hot climates around the world.
